changing my mind about "big" wheels
No you wont see any large diameter wheels on my car BUT.....this looks cool.

yea it looks ok But still like my 15" better esp when I pay 74 bucks a tire compared to there 17" + size tires

I work at a tire shop so the prices don't concern my all that much. At least its not foose two toned.

I know its an old thread but bigger than 15" wheels aint the devil....

I think it depends on the car.
Bigger cars really need big wheels sometimes.
Some cars look really stupid with 18+.
66/67 Chevelle and others look good with bigger wheels and tires because the wheel opening are huge. Same goes with the 73-77.
I'm keeping the 15s on the Malibu, but mostly because it's so original I want to keep it that way.
But, I've been smacking around lowering about two inches and going with "period correct" 16-18s on this one...

Put chrome reverse on the rear on the 63 and skinny torque thrust on the front. May not handle great but it will look sweet!

Ya ain't far off from the plan that's worming into my noggin.
Probably 16 x 8 chrome or painted steelies with spider caps  with a couple inch drop a-la mid sixties NASCAR, minus the stickers etc.
I think the fake 409/drag car thing is a little over done with the 61-64 chevy.
