Anyone modify their existing fuel pickup to a larger size diameter. I'll be running new 1/2 fuel line, but want to remove and replace the pickup with a larger size tube, and retain the original sender. Was thinking of removing the 5/16 pickup tube and replacing it with something larger ( brazing it back in place) can't find a 90 degree bulkhead fitting, would use that.....if it would work.

Idk if this will help you at all but here goes. A impala/caprice tank is a bolt it and set up for a electronic fuel pump (idk the line diameter)

That could be helpful, I didn't know that.

This was discussed a while back, the newer tank is bigger (and plastic) you will need the straps from the caprice, and the newer tank only used a in tank fuel pump. Wallyup (I think) has this set up in on of his cars.

Summit Racing may have the 90 degree bulkhead fitting, and also Aircraft Spruce has lots of fittings. Replacing the line on the sender assembly with 1/2 inch tubing should be possible.

I didn't see any 90 degree bulkhead fitting in the recent Summit catalogue. Is that what a bulkhead fitting is for? With use of the plastic nylon washers. Nut,washer, piece you're going thru, washer, nut.... I can probably get away with a straight bulkhead then a 90 AN fitting ontop.

Try getting ideas from the robbmcperformance.com site. They make modified sending units.

I saw their site, they make a really nice looking sender/pickup, just a little pricey for me right now with everything I'm trying to do to the car, might be something I'll swap out later. Get the factory one modified first sorta thing.

I have the impla tank it was in the car when I got it. Will be gone today but will try and get a line size for you. Its not that big and the guy used the stock plastic line going up and back for return lines. They are the push on style connectors.
