75 Chevelle
I just picked it up about a month ago. It has a 350 crate motor for an 87 vintage Chevy. Roller cam and gear drive. It runs strong, but it is way too low in the front. Previous owner cut the coils too much, and I sent up an impressive shower of sparks coming home tonight according to the wife following me home...Ouch!!!
I'll be looking for some new coils springs or spacers to raise it up. Headers scrape over any bump. Needs a lot of little things, but a pretty solid car. Interior about a 7 out of 10. Color needs to be changed. Will eventually be gun metal gray. 295's in the back that fit perfectly inside the wheel wells on wider Rally wheels.
This should be a fun project, and I won't see them everywhere. Although after I bought it a neighbor told me there was one down the street, and he was right. I have to go introduce myself one of these days.
I look forward to reading much more on this forum. I used to have a 74 454 Monte Carlo that I regret selling big time!

Re: 75 Chevelle
Welcome Bill. With The right springs in the front, not nessessarily stock, your ride and handling will improve considerably. JB

Re: 75 Chevelle
Welcome, looks like a great car to start with.
My original 305 engine is long gone (thank goodness).

Nice! How low is the front and what size tire is on the front? It looks about as low as my wagon in the front. My upper A-arm is almost perfectly level.

Re: 75 Chevelle
Welcome I have 295's on my 73 also. New lowering brings should get her fixed up. Wish my ride was as solid as yours.

Re: 75 Chevelle
@brainstain. I don't know the exact height, but the driver's side header drags when I hit a decent dip in the road, and going in and out of my driveway. When I hit the dip the other night, the skid plate is what hit. A very solid hit too. OUCH! Forget speed bumps. The front tires are 205/50-15's. I was thinking of just putting in a couple coil spacers until I can replace the springs with ones that aren't cut as much. The backs are perfect, but the front too much.

More pics
Here are a couple more. I'll take some of the engine when I get it cleaned up a bit. Kind of sloppy right now from the previous owner.

205/50 are for an escort. NOT a 4000 lb muscle car.

Re: 75 Chevelle
Holy crap! That's a 23" tire!! I'd bet a taller tire would solve it and still look good.

Re: 75 Chevelle
So what should I go with? Like a 75 height? I'm not a big tire guy when it comes to sizes...If so, how much taller is that?

I have 255 / 60's on my wagon up front, 275 / 60's on the rear on 8" wheels.

Re: 75 Chevelle
For a quick tire diameter figure, the Summit Racing catalog shows diameter, tread width etc for the various tire sizes.
I never cared for wide tires in front. They seemed to me to affect steering somewhat. I have 255X60s on the back of the Malibu, and 225X60s on the front, which is wider than I like up front. Should have been 70s up front for me.
