why did you put that torn bench back in?

tell me something, how is with used g3 parts in norway? i know there are lots of us car junkyards in sweden and they have quite a few g3s too. shipping quotes from usa are just outrageous for bigger or heavier parts.

I'm planning to get the bench upholstered. But it won't be cheap, minimum $850.

Parts for my Monte weren't too easy to find. I called the biggest US Car junk yard in the country, and they had never had one in their inventory. The hood and door came from a guy who contacted me on a forum.

Besides that I haven't seen any g3 parts for sale in the biggest classifieds here the last two years. Seems like the g3 A-bodies here are quite rare except the Monte Carlo and El Camino. Can't ever recall seeing a Laguna for sale.

Used Caprice parts are quite easy to find, same with Camaros, Corvettes and old Chevelles. Those are the most popular cars by far.

If I'm on a shopping spree I usually buy from the US, and use a company that ships from New Jersey, either by plane or boat. For instance, the freight rate for 150kg of load on boat is $62.

So there are few cars in Slovenia then?

850? are we talking about genuine leather or vinyl?

which company do you use? that is surprisingly cheap! just for example, a friend needed a pair of "fast burn" mopar heads and the shipping quote was more than 600$!

there are very few american cars on our roads, except here in my neck of the woods lol. same with bikes, my dad has the only harley in our county. and as far as i know, mine is the only g3 A body in the whole country. that puts the rarity on a whole diferent level lol:)

sorry for the OT though, im glad to see your car is coming together nicely! keep up the good work!

That's interesting. What condition is it in, and have you got any pictures?

That was leather, and the price was an estimate.

The name of the company is JetCarrier. They only ship to scandinavia unfortunatly, but I'm surprised if there aren't any similar companies down south in Europe. When you register they give you a mailbox in New Jersey, which you use as shipping adress when you shop online. If the store is to ship heavy items with their international rates, it gets quite expensive like you say.

Had a very good session in the garage this weekend! For once things didn't work against me. The Monte God must have been in a good mood Wink

Got hold of Corvette Rallies just when I was about to give up! They'll get an Autosol treatment

New lock cylinder kit
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 DSCF2624

Spent like one hour looking for the small linkage between the lock to the door latch assembly. Turned out it was inside the door, in the bottom hehe
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 DSCF2630

Got the windows in without breaking them. This was much easier than I expected
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 DSCF2633

Put the new wheels on in the rear, since the old ones where leaking
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 DSCF2643

I didn't get nuts with the wheels, so I had to use the old ones, which don't really engage properly. But the car is just
going to stay there anyway until I get correct nuts.
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 DSCF2642

The weather outside these days
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 DSCF2645

I've basically done all that's possible without ordering new parts. So my plan ahead is to order all the stuff I need from the US, get it shipped by boat, and continue work during my Easter vacation in April.

Placed and order at Summit Racing yesterday.

NAPA wouldn't accept foreign billing adresses, so I had to go with the MOOG springs Summit had Chris.

Managed to get some work done during the hollidays last week.

Here is some of the stuff I got from Summit and OPG (not the wood Wink )
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske002

Dismantling of front control arms
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske004

1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske008

1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske016

1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske009

1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske028

Took care to document the camber shims. I taped them together after the arms came off.
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske031

Got help from my father with pressing out the old bushings and ball joints. Turned out
to be quite time consuming as we had to aim perfectly with the rams to not damage the control
arms
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske040

1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske041

Then I cleaned up the parts and gave them a crude paint job with an anti-rust oil mixed in it
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske042

1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske047

1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske048

Also put Tectyl in the wheel wells and on the sway bar
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske045

1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske044

Here the new bushings and ball joints are in, also new pivot shafts for the upper arms
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske051

1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske049

Then I started to put it together again, but unfortunately I didn't have the right spring
compressor to install the new coil springs. So I just had to stop here.
1975 Monte Carlo - Page 3 MonteCarlopske052

I'll clean up the break calipers when I replace the hoses.

This weekend I'll put the springs in, as I've gotten hold of the correct tool.

I didn't mention this last time, but the rotor kit I got from Summit didn't fit. Turned out it was for first generation Monte Carlo. So I also bought new rotors. But I'll sell the old ones, and that will probably zero out the costs.

I was just thinking about a thing: is it stupid to put the support jacks where they are in this picture, for long periods of time? Because most of the engine weight is in front of the rams now, and on the frame.
