I sold the 70 chevelle project.
I drove the 73 this summer with the 350/th350 combo.
I removed the 350/th350 combo last month and sold them.
I started to markup the ls1 6 speed combo into the 73.
Wow, that is alot of the trans tunnel to cut out.
Curious if you removed the rubber body mounts between the frame / body or if they have deteriorated over time?
I have done a few of these swaps and never had that much of a clearance problem.
I just did a G-body '86 El Camino with a T56 and it had 1/2" between the shifter mount and the tunnel.
There was tons of room and I was ready to hammer on it, but it wasn't necessary.
It will be cool once it's finished.
Thanks -

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
Yeah i know, I don't know why it's so close. I think it's because i used the 1 inch set back mounts.
No the body mounts are good.
My buddy has a 67 nova that he did the same swap in and he had the same problem.
Thanks,

Yes i have the harness, fusebox, and ecm.
The harness has to be taken apart and rewired for a stand alone harness.
And the ecm has to be reflashed.

update:
I've been working on this like crazy, it doesn't seem to end.
The biggest thing is the wiring and making it all come together, but i'm getting there. here's some recent pics.

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
Think about doing this in a few months to my son's Laguna. How much modification was necessary as far as engine mounts?

No headers. I ended up using the factory 98 camaro manifolds.

I had to notch the frt crossmember on the pass side to clear the pan.

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
That body looks laser straight and that is a very tidy transplant.
Where did you hide the ECU?
How does it run?
What did you do to the motor as far as mods?
Thanks -

Thanks,
The ecm is mounted inside uder the heat box on the passenger toe board.
It runs and drives mint.
No mods yet it's bone stock. I'm going to pull it out this winter and go through the engine. heads, cam, intake etc etc. But for now i'm driving the hell out of it.

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
What heads, intake and cam are you looking at? You're going to replace those current heads with some 241's or 243's right?
The LS1 I have has a 230/224 .585/.563 111 lsa cam and I just bought a Magic Stick 4 that's a 239/242 .649/.609 113 for my 408.

Re: 73 CHEVELLE SS PICS
.I have a set of 243's allready rebuilt and ready to go.
I bought a weiand intake. I haven't bought the cam yet but i plan on buying a cam from engine power systems to match the heads. I can't remember the specs but i know it's a 112 lsa and i think the lift was around 600.
I tried to load pics but they won't work from my phone.
I ended up buying a 6.0 liter and i going to build that instead of the ls1.
