New to Forum 74' Monte Carlo in NJ
Just found this forum. I recently was given my Mom's pride and joy. A 1974 Monte Carlo that she bought new. I grew up in this car and have many memories in this car. Parents moved from NJ to NC while I was in college in 93'. The car has been sitting in their garage basically unused for the last 15 years. I was down there a couple of weeks ago helping them as they got water in the house from hurricane Florence. My mom asked if I wanted the car and I accepted. I spent a couple of days working on the car. A new water pump, radiator, hoses, shocks, brakes, master cylinder, fuel sending unit, headlamp switch, trans pan and tires. The car runs great now. I had it towed back to NJ. I had to promise my Mom not to sell it as long as she is alive. My kids will now get to also enjoy this car. My son likes it, daughter is not into old cars.
The car is in real nice condition. A guy offered me 10k for it when I was getting new tires on it. I declined.
96k miles, no accidents, no real rust to speak of, swivel seats, a/c, power windows, white with black, 350.
I just ordered a new rear bumper filler from E&K Bumper Fillers as the original disintegrated. The dash is cracked, not sure what to do with that yet. Maybe dash cap?? The seats have a couple of holes. Not sure what to do with them yet.
Looking forward to getting information from this site....

Always room for another Monte owner on here! Congrats on becoming it's new caretaker. Looks like it's been well preserved.
