Shocks for lowered cars
Interested to hear what people are running for shocks for cars they've lowered. My car will have a 2 inch drop front and back and I want to get a decent shock to go with the springs. I'd be more interested in a firm ride as well. Thanks.

Re: Shocks for lowered cars
I've been pretty happy with my Belltech drop shocks. They're specifically designed for cars running lowered springs, and have a firm but not harsh ride.

I found the bell tech rears but not the fronts. So you have a part number? I would imagine they are the same for several cars.

I used KYB Gas A Just front shocks for the front. They ride will and I haven't noticed any rubbing or bottoming out.

Re: Shocks for lowered cars
Here's the part numbers I used: 2209IH in the rear, and the 10102I up front
Here's the weird part. When I purchased them, that part was listed for the fronts for G2's and G3's. And it worked like a champ if I removed the dust cover. However, at some point Summit stopped listing them for the G2 and G3, and if you look right now it'll be for S10's and Tahoes and such. But that is the one I used. The only thing I can guess is that it has something to do with the reviews where a bunch of people were griping about it not fitting their G2's (clearly not realizing the dust cover has to come off).
Maybe you want to contact Belltech just make sure they didn't renumber their parts.

Re: Shocks for lowered cars
That is exactly what I needed. I when to the belltech site and got that same number for the rear. Now I'll check the other number with summit since they are local. I also see the 8000 drop shocks but I wonder if that would be too low for a 2 inch drop. Funny to read the comments about the dust cover. Thanks a bunch.

For the front I have SpeedTech upper and lower control arms with Viking Hybrid Coilovers.

Re: Shocks for lowered cars
I have 2 inch lowering spring. I put KYB shocks front and rear but when i lift the car, the rear spring fall down. My rear shocks was KYB # KG5504.
Does the bell tech 2209IH have the right extented lenght for the lowering spring?

Re: Shocks for lowered cars
They claim to make those specifically for cars with dropped springs, and mine is about 2" dropped from stock. It seems to work as advertised, and I've been happy with it. Damon23 got them too and said they work well.

Re: Shocks for lowered cars
They used to fall right out with the old shocks. With the belltechs they come down but the spring insulator keeps it in place when I drop it back down. I can tell a big difference on that part.
