I need a new one, and was wondering what you guys would say is the best choice. I'd prefer it to be easy to bolt on.

Everything is essentially stock, and I have the two-barrel manifold, with the 305 v8.

If you don't need to drive the car every day maybe take the carb off and try to rebuilt it. A kit and carb cleaner would be about 30 bucks..not hard to do and might be best bet for that.

I considered it, but I'm away at college most of the time, and when I will need it during the winter break I'll need it every day and for it to be as reliable as it has been.

I'm not experienced, but I feel like it should be replaced. The choke plate doesn't move unless moved by hand, and it stalls occasionally. I've also heard that a new aftermarket one will both perform better and give better mileage. (Not like it's really a big deal)

Idk how many choices are out there if a stock replacement aftermarket 2 bbl carb.  Could you pull it and send it out(to be rebuilt) while you are at school?  Any aftermarket carb I've ever dealt with required some "custom" mods for fuel line, choke, etc.

There's a place called Mountain Man Carbs, that could rebuild it for you.  They have a very good reputation.
Here's a phone number....(479)639-2022 His wife may answer when you call...good folks..

Changing carbs is gonna be more work than I believe you want at this point.....

If you want an aftermarket carb I think you should use a 4-barrel and an intake manifold too.
Or just rebuild the stock carb.
Engine has run great with this carb before, maybe it only needs some adjustment of the choke?
