Godspeed Old Friend
Sold my '64 Mercury Monterey Marauder today for $3000. Strangely enough back to the guy I bought it from for $200 3 years ago! Well, it got a lot work since. Motor was mostly disassembled, tons of parts were missing. I put about $1400 into it, drove the crap out of it for a year and a half and had a ton of question and answer sessions with the old timers at the gas pump. I guess I can't complain too much, made a profit but I'm truly going to miss the car.
Looks like I'll be buying some '77 Malibu parts pretty soon.

Bummer...but hey that's still a pretty healthy return on investment. People buy back cars all the time, I bet he was waiting in the wings the whole time.

Re: Godspeed Old Friend
Definite bummer ... but cool that you sold it to the same guy you bought it from!

Thats a sweet ride all right,
but one less car means more attention to the ones you keep!! which means you go faster!

Certainly true, means more time spent on my Malibu! Although it was a fun ride even though it looks like . It got plenty of attention even so, plenty of good stories from back in the day along the way. Another one gone but not forgotten, *sigh*. I guess the guy is going to finish up the odds and ends that I never got around to and drive it all summer!

i think an old car that still has original looking paint is bad A$$ definetly looks like it couldve been an old shine runner and looks like it has a few stories too tell. I can sum up the car in one word character

Re: Godspeed Old Friend
I agree, I didn't really care what it looked like, had a great time driving it. It's been in NY all its life, purchased at a dealer in Queens.
It'll be gone by the time I get home in the morning. But! Its coming back, he wants to pay me to weld in the trunk pan and some other work!
I have my eyes set on a '60 Chevy pickup for $1200
