Re: my non g3 project
I had a 60 Olds that bottom color dust me good when I was racing on the streets back in the early to middle 1960s. I had my 54 Furd with a stock 352 police intercepter in it at the time. JB

Very cool, indeed! So...what's the whole story behind the car? Obviously, had been driven very little with only 28K miles on it. What did it take to get it restored and running?

Re: my non g3 project
A good friend of mine bought it at a swap meet for like $300.00. He already had to many projects so it just sat. my wife told him she liked it and he said "come and get it". When he got it it ran but smoked real bad, after aquiring it he never started it again. when i got it he said i should start with a valve job so thats what i did. It was looking good until the machine shop called and said one of the heads was cracked. It took 6 months to find heads for a 371 olds v8. (apparently they were known for cracking). while there i did the usual replacement parts, water pump, generator, carb rebuild, fuel pump etc. The body and interior were pretty shabby lower fenders and quarter panels rotted, but the doors were all solid and in good shape. the top of the car (hood especally) was solid surface rust. since the car had never been repainted there was no suprises when stripping it down. the interior is still not finished, it needs a headliner and seat covers. i did do a complete color change from a greenish silver to red and white, added impala dual antennas, and painted the lower bumper body color. As for history, I only know what was told to my buddy when he bought it, and that is it was parked in 1967 because the original owner died. in the late 70's some one tried to get it running but it was parked again until it was donated to a high school auto shop. They got it running, but when they found out how hard it is to get parts for they took it to the swap meet where my buddy bought it. I'll try to find some "before" pictures to post.

Re: my non g3 project
That brings back some memories for me, of that era. I bought an 88 Olds new in 1955,
and played around with Olds engines in those days.. I had a '40 Furd coupe with an Olds engine back then, along with a '40 Furd pickup with a Caddy engine.
