Buick vs Chevy Dual Humps
For those of you who can't sleep at night wondering about the differences between these two styles of crossmembers...I pulled a '73 Buick Regal dual hump crossmember the other day and thought I'd compare it to a '73 Chevelle dual hump ( I don't have a life!). Both are off a TH350. It's a mystery to me why the two GM Divisions used different style crossmembers, but here's what I learned:
1) Overall length is the same (52 1/2")
2) Ctr-to-ctr distance of mtg holes are the same (51")
3) Buick weighs 16 1/2 lbs vs Chevy at 19 3/4 lbs
Does anyone know for sure if these fit the TH400?

So, the mounting pad between the crossmember and tranny must be the same, also?

Re: Buick vs Chevy Dual Humps
With all the extra holes in the frame, the cross member on a Chevy will fit the TH400 OK by moving it to fit. I have a '73 cross member in the '75 Elco, with a 400 trans......
