Transmission help. Think my son's Laguna's tranny is toast
So my sons Laguna started acting up last night and I think the tranny is toast, but I want anyones thoughts. Fluid seems full and not burnt. Put it in either drive or reverse and does not feel like its in gear. Hit the pedal and it takes a while and suddenly it starts to move. shifts really late and seems to move while pedal is down and seems like it bucks through the gears. \

Bands? Pump? or the 2800 Stall Converter?

Sounds wasted but could there be too much fluid in there ? It sounds like the pump is gone though.

Maybe check that all the linkage components are in correctly too. Although I'm not sure that would contribute to hesitation. Check your trans TV cable is in right also or not broken/loose. Hopefully its that simple. Check you vacuum modulator is working properly & that there are no big rips in the lines.

Reverse totally went out now too. It's gone. Sucks cause it only needed to last two more weeks then it's getting parked for a while, while he drives his new car. Oh well, I'll be pushing it in the back and will get to it in 3 months after I finish the el camino.

Reverse is usually the first thing to act up when low on fluid, or the pump isn't picking up the oil. Even a filter with debris in it can slow the prime of the pump.
The TH350 is one of the easiest automatics to rebuild, if you are into doing it.

Search local craigslist...I've bought a few for under $150.
