Don't forget the gear lube!!!!
Took her out on a maiden voyage and didn't go so well. The one thing I forgot to check was gear lube. It was a blasted, painted, fresh rebuilt new ring and pinion, bearings, seals axles...Damnit Had another one sitting around so rebuilt it and put in yesterday, so ready to go again. Notice the gear lube in the pic under the new one.

Oh yeah right when I was turning across 2 lanes of on coming traffic. My friend was following me in my pickup and said by back end lifted off the ground. He thought I shoved it in reverse on accident.

Yea it sure looked like it did . But no one was hurt and the car survived just broken parts . A bad day but could have been worse . Glad to hear all is ok and fixed .

Pride gonna hurt for awhile. I live in a town of about 60,000 and this happened at a high traffic time around my neighborhood so alot of people I know saw it driving by, again

And I thought I was the only one that did stuff like that. When I put the new engine in mine I forgot to hook up the oil pressure line to the gauge. Didnt take long to remember after it started!

Re: Don't forget the gear lube!!!!
My car fell off a jack stand because I forgot to check the shifter when putting back the steering column. When I started the car the linkage was not lined up properly underneath & she went into drive-need a new backing plate for the right front. happens.

You should post more of your "after pics" there Stan. I look at them for inspiration.

Since the rear end is on jack stands with the cover off, I like to go ahead and dump the 2 quarts of lube in before installing the cover, therefore just stick it in and go.
