And so the work begins...
Not a bad deal for $1300 IMHO
Was going to use the interior & other parts from the black one to fix up the white one (Cali car). But just couldn't do it. So I gave the white one to my brother in exchange for the bodywork to be done.
Interior of the Black 'Guna dash was in really nice shape, only 1 crack. Seat cover not so great.
Kinda reminds me of the Flintstones car. Typical for a rustbelt victim...
Front replaced. You gotta love the POR 15
Next step the rears, and then figure out what the heck I'm gonna do about the trunk.....
I have the 3 piece replacement but not much to attach it to.... Any suggestions?

Yeah, I buy parts from shermanparts.com. Luckily, a local auto paint store handles their parts, and a truck from Sherman comes with the parts, usually at 2PM !! No shipping costs, which can be steep sometimes for over-sized items.

Re: And so the work begins...
Luckier for me the Sherman showroom is only 10 miles away....
I picked the 3 piece trunk floor and the fender extensions, just concerned about where to weld where it goes up to go over the axle hump, and the lower edges of the wheel wells are pretty much gone. No-one from I've seen makes repro wheel housings so I may have to go with mini tubs...

Re: And so the work begins...
It looks sad for now, almost ashamed to even put pics up yet but the tear down, welding, and of course many hours of sanding / blocking are in my near future. The improvement will begin soon enough!
Thinking of going with the new paint that reacts to heat like the old mood rings do for the S3 striping, I think it will be kind of neat to have stripes that will change color based on the ambient temperature.

Nice to see you helping to save both of these cars. That is something alot of people dont touch on. Here in my area we just dont have any of these i did see a laguna at school but thats the only G3 I have ever seen well except mine. They were all crushed or burnt up on the circle track.

Re: And so the work begins...
Getting the title for the white one is proving to be a real pain in the 'dupa! The car was bought from an impound yard in California, and they even managed to mess up their paperwork. They have it listed on their paperwork as a 75 but it obviously is a 76 by decoding the vin as well as the differences in the rear tailights/quarter extensions.
Of course the government drones at the MI DMV are absolutely no help. I'll probably have better luck taking all the paperwork I have with me out to Cali the next time I'm out there for work and try to get it rectified.

Re: And so the work begins...
Find someone in Oklahoma to file a Title 42 for $75-$100 then have the title shipped to you. Just a thought, but it's relatively painless from what I'm told. Wonder how many other states do this? I know KS will do something to that extent if it's 50 years old or older, but something this new is a major hassle requiring a lawyer & silent hearings. MO also has some kind of lost title program as well.

Re: And so the work begins...
Well the title issue was solved, just went in and said we lost the title, they ran a NCIC search and since it came back clean, a new title was issued.
Also, got the new hood mounted yesterday...
I have to say I'm extremely impressed with VFN Fiberglass' quality and fitment!
