hey at least it looks real and its not a ugly looking photo shop, and it gives me tons of ideas just looking at it haha

now if i was going to get rid of the turn signals on the side would u reccommend just bondo-ing over it or wait til i can get ahold of a welder?

NO BONDO! That will crack in no time. I recommend getting a welder & practicing a lot before attempting to weld on a body panel. That metal blows through too easy, ask me how I know. Another way to go about it, & some people on here might not appreciate this method, is to get some fiberglass sheets. I've done this in the past with good results, but it has to be done correctly. Patience is very important here. Either way you will end up using a small amount of body filler if you intend to get it straight.

"well i was talking about leaving all of the turn signal lens stuff in there and just bondoing right over it"

Practice all you want.... the bondo will still crack, and your car will look like junk. If you're going to do it, do it the right way.

yeah i was thinking that but also my el camino is already primer black so if it ever did crack i could always just fix it and put another coat of primer on

but idk guess ill just wait and weld in some sheet metal

Sure.... you could do that.... you could fix it 10 times... hell maybe even 100 times. OR... you could just do it right the first time.

They have 2 hinged tabs along the top and 2 tabs at the bottom on the side with Dzus fasteners that attach with foam tape to the window glass and slide underneath the chrome trim.

Sigh, haven't started it yet, my bro (the welder/bodyman) has had some life issues kicking him in the rear lately, so both cars were on hold till he got it all sorted out. His should be done by spring and then we'll start on mine.

He is about 90% done with the body on his...

I know this is an old topic but saw people asking about the rear window louvers and figured I had to comment. I had (still have them actually) rear window louvers on my 75 Chevelle coupe. I installed them on the car back around 82 or 83. I remember buying the set I had from some place that had all sorts of exterior accessories who's name escapes me at the moment. The louvers I have look exactly like the setup you have in your pic. I'm sure J.C. Whitney probably had them in their catalog back then too. If I remember correctly there may have been plastic one-piece louvers available for the rear windows on the 73-77 Chevelle coupes back then too - but I only faintly remember seeing them in catalogs - never saw a set in person or installed on a car.

The rear window louver setup I have is all aluminum - and was pretty good quality. It held onto the rear window with two aluminum mounting tabs at the top that slipped under the window trim and then glued down to the glass - the louver assembly would then screw to these two tabs and would pivot up on the screws that attached it to those tabs so the window could be cleaned. There was two hold down tabs (one on each side) - that attached to the car in the same way and there were two quarter-turn type fasteners that held the louver down to the two side tabs.
