If you are digging an inch of bondo out of there you will probably soon find that the door is no where near straight... if there is any door left in there.

In most casses get the parts chemical dipped if you can it saves you time and money on sand paper.

the body is straight but the kid i got it from i guess loved bondo, its everywhere, too much of it too, even on perfect straight metal, just random spots. he said he was smoothing out the body where it is supposed to bend a little so it all looked straight no curved fenders, whatever. there was bondo on the inside under the step shield i took it too metal it fine and is perfectly straight.

I have heard of skim coating the whole car to get it truly flat. Even saw Chip Foose show Overhauling doing this in person at SEMA one year http://www.hubgarage.com/mygarage/alpha69/blogs/585 . The guy had a spreader that was over a foot wide and was going from front to back down the rear quarter of the car. Then the long boards came out any they started sanding it down. Don’t think they left a inch thick on there when they were done but it was interesting to watch.
PS I do like the smell of bondo but not that much.
