Direct fit radiator
Hi - Looking for a direct fit radiator to drop in my big block 4 speed without any mods. I heard that the new aluminum ones work pretty good. The fins on mine are starting to come loose and I'm getting a lot of boil overs into the overflow. I don't think it has ever been re-cored. Anyone with this setup gone with aluninum?

Re: Direct fit radiator
I have a aluminum one in my '73 with a big block. I cannot recall the brand; I think it may be a summit racing house brand. It is a large 2 core. The cores are wide. Each core takes the place of 2 cores in the original 4 core radiator. In other words it is the same thickness. Other than needing to cut out a small notch in the bottom of the core support to clear the pet-cock, It fits like a glove. I've had zero overheating issues. The car is not here at the moment. I can look for a brand if you like when I get it back here. I do recall seeing made in the USA on it. I've had it for about 12 years now.

Re: Direct fit radiator
Im running a Northern Aluminum Rad for a manual trans. I highly recommend a two row because two rows give you more surface area in the same space as opposed to three or four rows. Check out their site. https://www.northernradiator.com/AUTOMOTIVE_-_LIGHT_TRUCK/CHEVROLET/CHEVELLE/1973 I went for the 205057 or 205055 (would have to check my records). Also, if you need 4 new isolators for the four corners of the new rad, I got new factory ones for the "4 row rad" from goodmark industries. Goodmark has the different size isolators depending on what rad size came in the car or what its being changed too.
If you want stock looking, with great cooling, Id read this thread. Its long but has all the info and part numbers your need. The parts are readily available and very reasonably priced to do the job. Guys with big power, big block engines have no issues with the recommendations and no electric fans required. https://www.chevelles.com/threads/cooling-101-setup-that-keeps-old-school-bbc-sbc-motors-nice-cool.606465/
