I love the GP's. I had a 77 SJ model. Lots of fun in that car. Keep those pics coming. Very nice looking project.

They are the 2 1/2 Ram Air manifolds from ram air industries. Ordered them with the powder coating, cost a pretty penny but I think it was worth it. I struggled so much with headers on my original 76, didn’t want to go through that again so I made the investment in these. They are super nice and very well made.

How about some engine specs? Camshaft sounds great! is that car originally a non-AC car? If so, it's the first one I've ever seen. If it's something you did, then congrats, because it looks 100% factory.
The car that got me into hot rods was a 1976 Grand Prix owned by my uncle. Black with black vinyl top and black bench seat interior. I built the 400, ported the heads, changed the camshaft to an Ultradyne grind. it ran really well. My uncle passed a while back, my cousin has the car.
When I saw that black beast of yours, it made all my neck hairs stand up.
I've got a '74 myself. Hope it turns out as nice as yours has.

So it’s a 1974 455 block with 98CC 4X heads from a 400, not port work done. Block is .30 over, speed pro pistons, Crower 60919 cam (304/321 adv dur, 231/240 @.05, 470/470 lift and 112 lobe sep), 1.5 Harland sharp roller rockers, Rhoads lifters, Edelbock performer maninfold (want to change to the RPM soon), Holley 750 vac secondaries, Ram Air industries 2 1/2 inch manifolds, 2 1/2 exhaust with hooker areochambers, Th400 with shift kit and Neil Chance 11 inch converter, 10 bolt 3.42 posi with solid control arms.
And yes, it is an original non AC car. Looks so much better than my first car (the sliver one) with all that AC crap in the engine bay.

Mine is running and driving. Currently it's a stock bottom end 400 with a small Lunati Voodoo camshaft and a set of 6X-4 heads that have some mild port work. Edelbrock performer, 650 Holley, three tube headers. I have another short block built that's just waiting on me....a 461" 400 based engine, forged rod forged piston, custom comp cam that's 236/242@ .050", Rhoads lifters. I'm gonna pull the 6X heads off the current engine, freshen them up, and use them on the 461. I've also got an RPM intake for it, and a set of 2.5" exit manifolds like yours (these three tube headers suck). It's amazing how similar our engine builds are! The car has a really nice shifting TH400, which I will be swapping out for a 4L60E. I've got EFI to go on the new engine, so the overdrive transmission makes a lot of sense. I've also got a set of 3.42 gears and a TruTrac diff to replace the 2.93 open diff that's currently in it. I've also got one of the AC delete boxes that retains the heater core and blower motor. Seeing your factory non AC box is a trip!! I can't wait to get that gigantic AC box off the firewall.

Thats crazy, very similar!! And header do suck in these cars. I wrestled them on my original car for years. I decided to make the investment this time and I couldn’t be happier. You’ll love them too.

Where did you get the exhaust system itself for your car? I bought a kit for a 73-77 A body, but it fits like garbage. I'm particularly interested in the headpipes that attach to the manifolds, they look like they fit great on your car! I can build something from mandrels if I have to, but I'd rather not.

The headpipes and flanges are from Ram Air Industries so they bolt up to the manifolds perfectly, from there back was done custom by a local exhaust shop. Initially I tried the full exhaust kit from Ram Air Industries, but fitment wasn’t great. I also didn’t like the way the tailpipes looked (I wanted them tucked up between the quarter and the frame), then wanted to add cutouts, etc, so i saved up for a few months and just had the whole thing done over.

Some pics in my gauge pod. Pulled out the 3 round center vents which were coincidentally 2 5/8. Made a steel plate for support from behind and they went in perfectly.
