Monte 454 did a little better than the Caddy.

Interesting ! I did have a '75 Coupe Deville, with the 500 engine ( it's in my Elco now ) and 12 MPG was what I was getting on that one. My Malibu with the 408 small block is about 9 MPG !
I haven't checked it on the Elco yet, with the 507 inch Caddy engine, but it doesn't look good !

Haha! Really who gives a hoot what mpg they get. Most of those were luxury cars and for what they cost new the buyer wasn't concerned with mpg. Like today, does a guy buying a new Escalade extended for 100 grand really care about mpg,I don't think so.

EXACTLY!!!!! I'd rather have more "smiles per gallon" than "miles per gallon"......but, maybe that's just me!?

True. & yet, many people who buy brand new SUVs & trucks ... are sometimes "stunned" to know my older cars (2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, 1979 Caprice Classic sedan & former 1989 CC Brougham) get better gas mileage than their brand new vehicle.......kinda sad.
