The parts place floor board hump. They had a lot of the parts to help with the conversion. And everything looked had made. The thing I was bummer about was that I couldn't get a pedal bump stop so I had to make one ,gm discontinued the neutral safety switch and I'm gonna have to adapt a camaro clutch pushrod boot to the firewall

Looks great. Is the auto trans really junk ? If not, maybe you can get some bucks out of it, to someone who can't afford a rebuilt one. I never scrap transmissions Very Happy

The Parts Place has been great with me. New windshield, gas tank etc and best prices for those parts.

I've got one TH-350 that works great... as long as you want to go backwards. I've also got a 700-R4 thats great at making noise, not so good at actually propelling the car.

Not all that familiar w/ the old 4 spd's, are they cooled through the radiator like the automatics? Sounds like a problem.

No they aren't cooled by anything but the air flowing over them under the car. I think he was talking about his turbo-350 he pulled out, he must have gotten it hot at one point to blow seals out.

If you find a old retired GM guy like I did he can totally rebuild with a shift kit for 150.

Keeping old/used & mis-used transmissions around for parts, is what I do.
For example, changing the tail shaft & housing to a short one from a longer one etc. The parts come in handy.
I have only one 350 at this point, but keep it for a rebuild.

I think every 73-77 I went to look at in Phoenix had a blown 350 trans and brown and silver fluid.

I wish I could afford the manual trans conversion, makes the drive so much more fun.

Mine had a dying TH350 when I bought it. Had no 3rd gear and no reverse. Then it eventually had all the gears again, then lost all forward motion. Turned out to be sticking govenor and fluid that hadn't been changed since Carter was President.

I found 2 places online that carries them one being the.partsplace ill find the other one and get.back to you keep in mind though that there are a.few things Ur gonna have to make until you either find own stuff or a company sells aftermarket.these being the clutch pushrod firewall boot a clutch pedal bumpstop the neutral safety switch has been discontinued by gm so they are a little expensive suprisingly rock auto has them if they are in fact the right.one.also I'm still looking for a shift boot I might get one for a camaro and see if its the same since it looks identical and you can modify the camaro clutch pushrod boot to work if your a little creative if you have any questions when and if you do the conversion let me know ill help you out as much as possible

That's a good indication that the trans oil should be changed more often. Some manuals say 24,000 miles. Most people never change it, from what I've found.
And sometimes when it's changed with high mileage on the trans, the trans will fail when the new oil cleans the crap loose in there.
Sometimes we can't win ! Very Happy

Well.. the odometer read 10,486 when I got it. I believe it had a 1 in front of all that but then again there's no telling how many miles it went with a broken speedo cable and gear. I swapped it out with a good one I had from my 76.

Rowing my own in that car would be interesting but I do loves my front bench, a floor shift would be funky.
