Does anyone know which wire on the headlight switch to tap into in order to have the stereo brightness dim? I've never connected that wire since I dont know which one to connect it to. Thanks!

I can't tell what wire on the switch it would be, but the illumination lamps in the gauge cluster should be controlled via a gray wire at the circuit board connector. You could tap into that one or follow it upstream to a better connecting point.

X2 on the gray wire. Maybe if you have a clock light, or an ashtray light, you could tap in there.

a 73 console has lit up indicators that go brighter or dimmer. the wire is hooked to the fuse block. i will have to look and see what it is called. but it is one of the terminals in the middle of the left and right bank of fuses.

Chris, I dont have the light up part of my 73 console. I'll look for a gray wire, but I'm not stabbing anything until I know for sure lol.

Aftermarket stereo help -110

dont look for a gray wire. its a terminal on the fuse block. its used for the 73 console plate, but can also be used for the light on after market gauges....

So I can just plug the wire off the stereo directly into there? I dont need the stereo to light up, it already does that, I just need the wire that will tell the stereo the lights are on so the brightness will dim. Maybe I'm over thinking it! At least now I know where I can tap in for the courtesy lights later!
